Yep, there’s more than one name for today. Today I learned that there are people who have no idea about Paczki Day, nor do they have any idea what a paczki even is. What’s kind of unfortunate is the fact that grocery stores are now carrying them. They are decidedly NOT the paczkis I’ve known and loved my whole life. For starters…lemon filling? Cream filling? What’s up with that? It’s supposed to be prunes. Or plums. Basically, what you get at the grocery store is a jelly donut, they just call them paczkis because it’s a selling point. Do yourself a favour. Find a Polish bakery and get some. Well…you’ll have to wait until next year now, but trust me on this. They are nothing short of amazing.
