Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

What’s left of it, anyway. To those of you celebrating in the American manner…have a great time, but remember taxis are your friend! To those of you celebrating in another manner…have a great time! For those of you who, like myself, have discovered that you have gotten entirely too old to deal with a bunch of drunken idiots and so are staying home after having a nice dinner with family…there are worse things!

Happy St. Patricks Day! tranquillo

Cabin Fever

The sun was out all day, and it’s comparatively warm…but I want more! This is the time of year with which I have a love/hate relationship. Love, because it is getting warmer and the days are getting longer. Hate, because it’s not going fast enough! I think we’re down to about four inches of snow in the yard, but I want it all gone now. Patience may well be a virtue, but it is not one I happen to possess.

Winter Storm Warnings

Maybe it’s just me, but it seems like lately the National Weather Service has been issuing a ton of “well, duh” alerts. You mean in winter we might have winter weather? It might snow? There might be blowing and drifting? Gosh, who would have EVER thought!? The one we were under since last night that was supposed to last through today was cancelled early…maybe because we got about four of the heavily-advertised ten to twelve inches of snow overnight, which started melting by noon. I just don’t get it…does Chicken Little now predict the weather? Or has all the technology involved made them so lazy that they cannot think for themselves? If the computer says there will be a blizzard, then by golly we’ll tell everyone, because the computer can’t be wrong! I think they’ve forgotten that the computer is not a sentient being.

2010 Winter Olympics

I don’t know what it is…maybe it’s because it’s the best of the best (mostly) amateur athletes in the world, but even the sports I normally cannot stand are interesting when they’re in the Olympics. I’ll quick knock this post out, then it’s time to get dinner started so I can be happily parked in front of my TV in time for opening ceremonies.

We Are Nothing If Not Erratic

My schedule tomorrow is 47 kinds of screwed up, so I’m getting a post put up now and will probably do another one some time in the evening. Maybe. The only thing I know for sure is that while I’ll be elbows-deep in a computer at my normal posting time, I will not be able to get online or do anything personal. I’ll be conducting an audit all day. What fun and joy! Anyway, at least you’ll have reviews to read over your coffee, and quite possibly some more to read after dinner.
