Presidents’ Day/Family Day

Happy celebration to those of you for whom today is a holiday! I hope you’ve enjoyed your day off work if you got one, and are looking forward to a shortened workweek with a little less trepidation than normal. For those of you not enjoying a holiday, congratulations! You got through Monday!

Weekend Off

And thank goodness for that! The cough I’ve had all week has decided to migrate to my chest, and I’m fairly sure I’m dying. With any luck at all the OTC drugs will work, because I surely cannot afford to go to the doctor for quite some time.

2010 Winter Olympics

I don’t know what it is…maybe it’s because it’s the best of the best (mostly) amateur athletes in the world, but even the sports I normally cannot stand are interesting when they’re in the Olympics. I’ll quick knock this post out, then it’s time to get dinner started so I can be happily parked in front of my TV in time for opening ceremonies.

Unscheduled Hiatus

Wow…who knew when I left the house Sunday to watch the game I wouldn’t return until well after dinnertime on Thursday? Or that the webmail site would be so slooooow when I finally got to it that it took over an hour to get to the first six messages so I finally gave up? I’m really, REALLY sorry about that, but we were having what thankfully turned out to be a relatively minor family crisis. Someday after it all works out I’ll share what’s been going on, but for now we’ll just leave it at that. But what it means is my inbox is scary and I am WAY behind on posts, so I’ll try to do more than normal to try to resolve both of those situations over the next few days.

Will Wonders Never Cease?

My cable company actually told me the current round of problems I’ve been having with my internet connection are a system problem instead of blaming my computer! Usually, they insist it’s something I’ve done, either security software or hardware configuration. Which would make sense, except for the part where I’ve had three laptops, and before my desktop died it was on its fourth build, in the 8+ years I’ve had intermittent connection issues. But this time they admit it’s them, and gave me a local number to call if it doesn’t clear up in a couple of days. I’m not holding my breath, but it is finally a step in the right direction!
