Working for the Weekend

Just got my call this morning, and apparently I’m doing a show this weekend. Four performances in three days, doing what I normally do for hockey games for a monster truck thing. Should be interesting. Now to fill in the next couple of days with something other than sitting in front of the TV!

Going For Gold

First, let me say congratulations to Finland! Also to Slovakia…you played your hearts out, and no one can ask any more from you. That was a fabulous game! And now, we are a little less than three hours from the gold medal game. Will Canada win and increase their count? Or will the USA win and upset their gracious hosts to the north? I’m looking forward to another amazing game.

It Doesn’t Rain, It Pours

I’ve done pretty much nothing for the last couple of days, and will continue to do nothing for the foreseeable future after Thursday. But today and tomorrow I’m so busy I’m not quite sure when I’ll have time to eat. And there is a lot of really good hockey happening for most of today, too, darn it! Oh well, my professional life calls, and I must answer. And I would be willing to bet we’ll probably have a TV or two tuned to Olympic hockey coverage even while our AHL team plays tonight.

Well, Who Knew?

I was entering channels last night looking for Olympic coverage even though I know I only pay for the very basic cable TV package, and much to my amazement I now have expanded basic! I have no idea when or how that might have happened, and I’m a little afraid to see my next bill, but for now, I have 70-some channels instead of the 30-some I normally can view! The only thing I can figure is this is the free service advertised because it took several visits to fix the problem with my internet (which, by the way, was never actually fixed by anyone who came, it just started working again) rather than it being fixed on the first one. Whatever it is, my TV viewing possibilities at 3am when I’m not sleeping have expanded greatly, and I love it!

Winter Storm Warnings

Maybe it’s just me, but it seems like lately the National Weather Service has been issuing a ton of “well, duh” alerts. You mean in winter we might have winter weather? It might snow? There might be blowing and drifting? Gosh, who would have EVER thought!? The one we were under since last night that was supposed to last through today was cancelled early…maybe because we got about four of the heavily-advertised ten to twelve inches of snow overnight, which started melting by noon. I just don’t get it…does Chicken Little now predict the weather? Or has all the technology involved made them so lazy that they cannot think for themselves? If the computer says there will be a blizzard, then by golly we’ll tell everyone, because the computer can’t be wrong! I think they’ve forgotten that the computer is not a sentient being.
