Study Shows China Has More Mobile Surfers Than PC china 2924 600x450 500x375

Although China’s Internet is notoriously censored, that doesn’t stop people in the Middle Kingdom from going online. A recent study by the Chinese government has shown that the smartphone has overtaken the PC as the most popular device to go online with. The lead isn’t very strong, especially in a country as populated as China. The study showed 380 million people surfing from a PC with 388 million surfing from a mobile phone.

This leads me to wonder what the numbers are like in the US. This is a ridiculously small sample, but I have a good number of Facebook friends who don’t own a PC but still regularly use the social networking site from their phones. It’s weird to think that the Internet and desktop PCs aren’t as synonymous as they once were, but it’s also exciting.
