We sure to do learn about a lot of things through job listings. Last year, Microsoft bought popular VoIP service Skype for $8.5 billion and now job postings from the company's careers site reveal plans to bring the service to Xbox Live. The ad says that experience in Metro style Windows 8 apps would be a plus, which is about all we know regarding the specifics of the Xbox Live app, and that includes any sort of release date.
This news isn't surprising at all, given Microsoft's acquisition of Skype and should come as good news to those who use both programs. The Xbox 360 does have its own options for video chat, but neither are as far-reaching as the almighty Skype. Social networking has never been the console's strong point, despite Microsoft's efforts, so hopefully this is a step in the right direction.
