The hard drive offers 500GB of storage space at a quarter of the physical real estate taken up by previous generations of hard drives. This allows for smaller, cheaper laptops and an affordable alternative to SSD storage.
Seagate claims that the drive raises the bar, delivering the best cost per GB and cost per millimeter in the industry for ultrathin applications. The hard drive uses a 6Gb/s SATA interface for speedy data transfer and its standard SATA connection allows it to easily integrate into existing laptops.
The retail price of the drive is $89.
