Kevin Packingham, the Vice President of product innovation at Samsung, said that the company has set a goal for all smartphones coming out in 2012 to have adequate battery power to last an entire day under even moderately heavy use.
The simplest way to do this is to equip larger batteries, which the company is doing, but they’re also working on new ways to optimize battery usage. A particularly draining feature is 4G LTE, but Packingham says that with Verizon’s wide network, phones no longer have to constantly search for connections, an act that uses a lot of power.
