The other day we posted the rumor that Palm, the company possibly best known for the Palm Pilot Pocket PC, might be coming back thanks to Nicolas Zibell, President of the Americas and Pacific Division of Alcatel One Touch, purchasing the company from HP. According to an official press release, Palm was purchased by TCL, the company that owns the Alcatel brand, and they are indeed mounting a comeback.

According to TCL, they want the Palm brand to produce “more-advanced” devices with “breakthrough innovations.” They’re giving Palm their full support, which includes a “best in class” research and development department consists of 5,000 engingeers across the globe. There’s also talk of top level quality, cutting-edge supply chain, and other big factors. The point is that TCL is big and powerful and with them pushing Palm, Palm has the potential to come back in a big way.

You can read the full press release right below which details exactly what TCL is bringing to Palm. Even though I was too young to appreciate what Palm was doing at the time, as a ’90s kid I definitely get nostalgic thinking about the appealing gadgets and gizmos that the company was know for, so it’s hard not to be a little excited for this.
