This is probably the best idea I’ve seen in a long time. My biggest complaint about my mobile devices is the charging factor. Sure, there are a hundred different options, but pretty much all of them require an electrical outlet, which I don’t always have easy access to. How great would it be to be able to charge my phone simply by walking, something I do a lot of anyway?
How it works is really pretty simple: First, you need to fully charge it with the included USB cord (but only the first time you use it). Then just place the nPower Peg in your backpack (or bag, or pocket) and walk. It converts your motion into power and stores it until you need it. When one of your devices is dying, just plug it into the Peg and hit the “charge” button. It is compatible with over 3,000 gadgets, so no worries about being left with a dead battery.
How much energy it stores is directly related to your level of activity, of course. If you find you’re not walking enough to store enough energy, you can shake the Peg with your hands to create more. Or, you know, stop being lazy. Your choice.
It’s on backorder right now, but you can sign up to be notified when it is available again. Expected cost is right around $160.00 US.
