New Modular Robots Undertake Team Work

Modular, self-reconfigurable robots will be able to work either independently or as a single unit for search-and-rescue operations. They also have the potential to be used in industrial inspection and surveillance, military reconnaissance and even space exploration.

A team of search-and-rescue robots capable of collaborating to form a single larger robot when faced with certain challenges have been developed in Germany.
