Microsoft Releasing Windows 8.1 Update 1 in April Dylan Duarte March 4, 2014 Those waiting for Windows 8.1 Update 1 are in luck as sources close to the Verge are reporting that the final version of the update is not only ready to go, but that Microsoft has already been distributing the update to partners and PC makers. The official consumer release is scheduled for next month. The update, which Microsoft has referred to as a “spring” update, is targeted to those who use a keyboard and mouse. There are a few new taskbar-related features, including the ability to put Windows 8 apps on the taskbar, as well a shutdown button, a search button, and some other things. Update 1 will also allow PC manufacturers to build tablets that only contain 1GB of RAM and 16GB of storage, which will lead to cheaper tablets, which may lead to me being able to afford one! Update 1 is scheduled to hit on April 8th. via The Verge Share This With The World!
