Microsoft Offering Refunds for SDTV Minecraft Owners Minecraft 3601 500x351

Minecraft, the insanely popular little title-that-could from Mojang, recently hit Xbox Live Arcade after much anticipation. For the first time in the title’s life, the game features split-screen for local multiplayer. Unfortunately, that feature doesn’t work on standard definition televisions. Even worse, Microsoft never told anybody.

Now that it’s been brought to Microsoft’s attention, they’ve added a warning to the game’s XBLA page. Any SDTV owners who purchased the game prior to the warning being added is eligible for a full refund through customer supporter. This may sound like it should be an open-and-shut case, but a refund for a digital title is practically unheard of, so good on Microsoft for paving the way. Then again, perhaps they don’t deserve a pat on the back for simply doing what’s right, but there’s enough terrible customer service out there that we should recognize the good amongst the bad.
