There has always been some level of expectation that the newest version of Android would always make its official debut on the newest Nexus device. That just makes sense. But that’s not what’s happening with Android 7.0 Nougat, because the first smartphone to ship with Android N out of the box will be LG V20. Take that, Samsung?

You might remember the unique secondary “ticker” display on last year’s the LG V10 and, as of yet, it’s not entirely clear if the LG V20 will do the same. In fact, LG is being pretty secretive about its new flagship aside from mentioning that they plan on shipping the device with Nougat when it launches some time in September. For now, they’re just playing up the Nougat-flavored goodness.

All this being said, apparently the LG V20 won’t be the first phone to run Android 7.0. It’ll just be the first one to ship with it. According to perennial leaker Evan Blass, eligible Nexus phones could get the update as early as this Friday. It’ll reportedly be pushed out alongside the security patch.

If you’re still rocking a Nexus 5 from 2013, you’re out of luck. If you’ve got anything newer than that, you might look forward to that OTA update in a few days. Or you can wait until September to get a LG V20… or maybe you want one of those fancy new HTC Nexus phones instead.
