You would think that technology companies would have a pretty good grasp on counting. For some reason, Microsoft went from the Xbox to the Xbox 360 to the Xbox One. They also skipped Windows 9, just as Samsung skipped the Galaxy Note 6. Not immune to this trend, it looks like we'll miss out on the OnePlus 4 and jump straight into the OnePlus 5 later this year.

There is a little more rationale here, as the number four as considered bad luck in Chinese (and several other Asian) cultures. That's because "four" in Chinese sounds identical to the word for "death." By contrast, the number "eight" is considered lucky, because it rhymes with prosperity. The OnePlus 4 probably wouldn't fare too well in China against the Galaxy S8 and the iPhone 8.

A new report offered by Chinese website PCPop provides the leaked specs for the upcoming OnePlus 5 and, unsurprisingly, the next "flagship killer" reminds you to "never settle" all over again. They're saying the new smartphone will rock a Snapdragon 835, up to 8GB of RAM, a 5.5-inch 2K display, 3000mAh battery, 23MP dual lens camera with OIS and optical zoom, and a 7mm thin profile.

While no leaked photos are available, they did put together a render of the upcoming phone, shown below. Like the Galaxy S8, the OnePlus 5 will ditch the physical home button, moving the fingerprint sensor to the back. And while the bezels are decidedly smaller, it looks like you'll still have capacitive button below the screen on the front. Look for the OnePlus 5 to launch this summer, likely in a similar price range as the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T at time of initial release.
