As with every year at CES you get everything from new products to simple refreshes of old products. For now it would seem Kingston is doing product refreshes with their new HyperX Red Limited Edition and updating HyperX LoVo with a new look.
The Kingston HyperX LoVo RAM is just the kind of item you would need for a HTPC build that needs a lot of memory. The LoVo kits will be available in 4 GB and 8 GB dual-channeled kits. The HyperX LoVo will maintain their distinct green color, but will not sport a heatspreader similar to the Kingston Genesis line. There will be be two kits running at 1600 MHz with 1.35V and 1333 MHz with only 1.25V. The 1600 MHz 4 GB kit is expected to be priced at $46.00 and the 8 GB counterpart at $56.00 as the first to be released.
I think the HyperX LoVo modules would be a great choice for an HTPC or home server since both tend to run for long periods of time without being turned off. It should help save on that power bill at 1.35V and 1.25V. I am not sure what to make of the HyperX Red Limited Edition. When I first heard the name I thought a major brand would finally support AMD and use the B.E.M.P. (Black Edition Memory Profiles); but no, they are just red.
