How The Blind Watch YouTube

The blind and vision-impaired Web users will soon be able to “see” online videos thanks to the invention of a blind IBM Japan employee. Instead of using the mouse, the new “Accessibility Browser” will feature special shortcut keys that will give visually disabled users better control of video content without having to hunt for the buttons with a mouse.

It will also include the ability to modulate the level of the sound from various audio sources like the descriptive audio programs used in many sources designed for the blind. Besides assisting the blind, this technology has the potential to help an aging population maintain their level of accessibility to visual content.
