Gamers Score at Sundance

For every pale faced 80’s teen with a permanent indention on their left thumb and a cramp in their right hand from holding an over heating Atari 2600 joystick who always wondered what it was like to be hip, well, this year’s Sundance Film Festival finally gave you, your due; Chasing Ghosts: Beyond the Arcade.

Lincoln Ruchti & Michael Verrechia’s Chasing Ghosts hopefully is the first chapter of the proclaimed arcade revolution which came to fruition in the early ‘80s and has become a nine-headed beast in today’s marketplace. No matter if you’re in a position to mock or find a kinship with those who spent every waking hour in the underage version of Las Vegas in pursuit of high score immortality, this film is both entertaining and oddly poignant about the beginnings of a lost era.
