Facebook Hacker Gets Eight Month Sentence facebookheader

Between April and May of last year, a 26-year-old UK student hacked into the Facebook servers and the account of a Facebook employee, where he nabbed restricted internal data and stored it on an external hard drive. Facebook discovered the breach after doing a security check and promptly notified the FBI. In the end, Facebook spent over $200,000 on the incident. The hacker has been sentenced to eight months in prison.

Here’s the best part: the hacker, Glenn Mangham, claims he hacked into Facebook to search for any security vulnerabilities that he could warn them about. I certainly hope Mark Zuckerberg sends him a fruit basket or some sort of gift in return for such a friendly gesture. It’s good to know that our private data is being guarded under the watchful eye of a hacker sitting in his bedroom in Yorkshire.
