The Armadillo speaker, announced at CES by Outdoor Technology, is the perfect gift for someone who loves camping but doesn’t like leaving all the gadgets behind. Not only is this rugged boombox shockproof and waterproof, it comes equipped with USB ports that allow you to charge your mobile hardware on the go.

The Armadillo is something of an evolution from the company’s Turtle Shell speaker, but the Turtle Shell is also seeing a successor. The new Turtle Shell comes in a variety of colors and will include integrated Bluetooth connectivity. You’ll also be able to mount it on your bike.

Both speakers uses rechargeable lithium-ion batteries and last up to ten hours. They also feature microphones which make them ideal for use as speaker phones. The new Turtle Shell will be available in early 2013 for $149.95, with the Armadillo coming later this year for an as of yet unknown price.

The Armadillo fuses the same highly modern design of the Turtle Shell but doubles the size and sound with daisy chain functionality that allows you to play two Armadillos together for the ultimate sound experience. The Armadillo also features Bluetooth connectivity and AirPlay for iOS users that wish to have a stylish wireless speaker that connects flawlessly to their device and an integrated USB port for powering other devices.

Turtle Shell Goes Blue
The Turtle Shell offers a uniquely rugged design shaped like a turtle shell with an array of color offerings to express your style. The fully equipped new Hi Fi version will include Bluetooth 4.0 low-energy technology and easy-to-use integrated controls for quick control of tracks, volume and calls with just a touch of a button. The new Turtle is made to fit your active lifestyle with its new IP6X dust and waterproof standard and bike mount capability. In addition, it features the Turtle Claw, the first ever camera threading speaker mount allowing it to attach to any standard camera accessory. Accessories are available but sold separately.

The crisp deep bass and hi-fi sound from the Turtle Shell and Armadillo make them the ideal companion for music, movies games and even calls. They are also party-friendly with a rechargeable lithium-ion battery that will last up to 10 hours. Both are also equipped with a built-in microphone making them ideal for speakerphone functionality.

The new Turtle Shell will be available in early 2013 for $149.95 while the Armadillo will be available later in 2013.
