The “major issue” with the Vertex series was systemic issue with the Sandforce controller. Being on the cutting edge plagued OCZ with drive failures, problems with in-series updates, and the degradation of public opinion on quality. Well, the Vector completely switches lanes by going with an Indilinx Barefoot 3 controller.
The new Vector promises to maintain the OCZ Vertex’s unbelievable speed while improving IOPS by over 20%. The OCZ Vector series should improve all actions related to burst read/write operations such as file transfers and system boot-ups. This promises to be a good year for OCZ SSD drives with Vector leading the way.
