Zune Prices Follow Stock Market and Drop!

Zune prices are getting more aggressive this holiday season. Microsoft has announced price cuts right down the whole current line starting on November 21st. These prices affect Canadian retailers, though I’m sure that US price cuts will be similar. They are as follows…

Product                       New SRP           Previous SRP         Change

Zune 4GB                            $99                         $129                       -$30

Zune 8GB                            $139                       $149                       -$10

Zune 16GB                          $179                       $199                       -$20

Car Pack                             $69                         $79                         -$10

Dock Pack                           $39                         $49                         -$10

Although the Microsoft Zune still has a ways to go to becoming THE music player in the market, appealing to our wallets is a start. Compared to an iPod nano, which starts at $169 for their 8GB unit, the Zune is one heckuva deal these days.

Tuesday, Take Two

Turns out I’m still on that alliteration kick. Another flying visit to my computer before going back to work again. Have a great evening!

Monday, Monday, Sometimes it Turns Out That Way

I’ve had that song stuck in my head all day, so I figured I’d steal a line for my title. Probably that dates me a little, but then I’m not trying to impress anyone so why should I care? Haven’t had much luck figuring out how to power a case fan for my car, but I’m still working on it. Hope springs eternal, after all.

Hori Fighting Stick EX2 for Xbox 360

We’re getting close. We’ve been waiting far too long for Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix and the date is almost upon us. Looking forward to next year, we’re going to get treated to Street Fighter IV as well and I couldn’t be more excited. However, playing these arcade-style fighting games at home just isn’t the same.

As fun as Street Fighter may be, playing them on a conventional Xbox 360 controller is nowhere near as satisfying as popping quarters at the local arcade and playing with a real arcade controller. Looking to duplicate this experience at home is the widely-applauded Fighting Stick EX2 from Hori. Designed for the Xbox 360, it offers an arcade-like experience from the comfort of your living room.

Based on the layout of the buttons, it’s pretty clear that this arcade controller is intended for use with Street Fighter-style fighting games, but there’s no reason why you can’t use the Fighting Stick EX2 with other titles, like Soul Calibur IV and the upcoming Tekken 6. I guess you could even use it with Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe if you wanted to.

Anyhow, the Hori Fighting Stick EX2 for the Xbox 360 has a list price of $60, the same price as a regular Xbox 360 controller.

Finally Friday!

We’ve made the weekend! Hope you’re all planning on doing something exciting. Me, I’m working, but that’s OK. Tomorrow is opening day of deer season around here, which means none of the guys who bug me will be around. It’s gonna be a good weekend!
