With a profit margin of over 50% per unit, the carriers better be giving away something for free!
This hot iPhone rumor was brought to you by compliments of CNBC analyst Jim Cramer (he’s a nut, have you ever watch him on “Mad Money”?), who suggests Cingular/ATT will sidestep subsidization of the Apple iPhone by giving away lengthy service contracts. He believes the strategy will help drive new subscribers to the Cingular while maintaining requests from Apple not to discount the cost of the $499 and $599 iPhones.
