Unlike most of the first-world population, which seems infatuated with automobiles, I see them as the death traps they really are: sleek, emotionless cages that propel victims at unforgiving speeds towards almost certain death. As such, I appreciate any attempt to make them less deadly.

BMW’s i8 pulg-in hybrid sports car will debut in Spring 2014 for a whopping $136,000. For that price, the car understandably comes loaded with a variety of features, most notably of which is the key FOB, which is fitted with an LCD display and provides all sorts of useful information about the car.

The FOB can tell you how much gas you have left, how far it will take you, if you locked the car or not and more, all using Bluetooth Low Energy, so you can take this information with you wherever you go.
