You would have to live under a rock to have missed that good dental health is the cornerstone to good physical health in general, yet there are many of us (myself included) who tend to let a good dental routine fall by the wayside for whatever reason. Mine is that as a child I was severely traumatized by the dentist, as my baby teeth did not come loose on their own, but rather were pushed out of the way by my adult teeth. Thus every six months I found myself at the dentist, having four teeth at a time yanked. It did not instill in me a great desire to return.

But what if there was something other than simply knowing what I should be doing to keep me on track? It would seem that there is, and not a moment too soon. The Beam Toothbrush features special sensors that sync with a smartphone app. It monitors your brushing technique, the length of time you spend brushing, and how often you brush, and then it can transmit that information directly to your dentist. Or not. Up to you and your dentist.

That’s about it for this version, although later versions will also have the ability to monitor how much time you spend on each area of your mouth, and also play music while you’re brushing to get you in the right tempo. I think that’s neat.

If you want this one, you’re going to have to part with about $35.00 US. But then I was pricing electric toothbrushes the other day, and that’s really not an unreasonable price.
