Just a few short weeks ago, in my review of Angry Birds Space, I said that the property wasn’t going away any time soon and I was alright with that – but this isn’t what I had in mind. Rovio has announced that they’re developing an Angry Birds animated series and plan to release 52 two-three minute episodes per year on all possible devices, beginning this fall. The plan is to release the episodes via a video app and the developer is currently looking for partners that could help bring the series to more screens.

It’s certainly not a bad business move considering how hot the property is right now, but that doesn’t mean I have to like it. After all this time, I still like Angry Birds, but Rovio is intent on making me hate it. Of course I’ll reserve any real judgment until the series launches, but in the meantime I’m just going to be anticipating my inevitable dislike of it.
