The FX-4130 will be taking the $112 spot for AMD and moving the FX-4100 down to $101 as the target retail price. The FX-4130 also takes on a minor performance increase at 3.8 GHz (3.9 GHz turbo) compared to the FX-4100 at 3.6 GHz (3.8 GHz turbo), but is also a 125W chip. This is a strange move by AMD to release a new chip this close to an update to the entire lineup. This makes me think the Piledriver update will be further delayed or possible skipped over.

This could be a sign of the FX-4100 being moved to a strictly OEM market space as I don’t see the need for three quad-core FX chips within $20 of each other. I personally have never been a fan of clock speed updates to processors. While I do not see the FX-4130 making a big splash, I will enjoy the price reductions of all the other AMD processors and APUs.
