Apple Says No to MySpace at Retail

Apple Says No to MySpace at Retail

Apple has banned access to MySpace at their retail stores, but not for the conventional reasons of keeping employees productive. The ban deals with loitering customers…

An Apple Store employee (who does not work in the Fifth Avenue store), confirmed to CNET News.com that this has been an ongoing problem. “MySpace is a big issue for the Apple stores because people come in, Photobooth themselves (using Macs’ built-in webcams), then stick their picture up on their MySpace account and loiter at machines for hours,” the source said in an e-mail. “It is especially troublesome at the flagships and high-volume stores, and for a while there was no official word on how to deal with it.”

In some of the Apple flagship stores where traffic is extremely high, having people hang out all day without buying anything is bad for business.

Pirates of the Caribbean Fans Beware!

Pirates of the Caribbean Fans Beware!

In anticipation of the movies premiere, an email has been circulating around the web promising a teaser trailer of the third installment of the movie franchise “World’s End” and a chance to win free tickets. However, this email isn’t treasure but a trojan designed to do nasty things to your system…

“There is no film preview and there are no free tickets,” said Graham Cluley, senior technology consultant for Sophos. “The only thing that this email is trailing is an attack wave of malicious code against your PC. Once your computer is compromised, hackers will be able to steal information from you with the aim of identity theft and other crimes.”

The email has gone out to North American and European fans and bears the familiar logo of the movie. We advise that you don’t take the bait.
